Associate Director of Analytics & Optimization

JOB SUMMARY 

 

We’re looking for an Associate Director of Analytics & Optimization to not only lead, nurture, and grow our Analytics team, but also to humanize the data and make it relevant to our clients. The ideal candidate is an expert in harnessing insights and inspiring the data & analytics team and client workstream through the power of analytics and data. This person is, at the core, also committed to making strategy relevant, is collaborative, always curious, and a mentor.  

 

Just as an FYI: This role is not applied data science using Python, R, deep statistical analysis, etc. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

  • Champion a culture of data-driven, test-and-learn approach to decision making 

  • Help lead and grow the Chicago team’s Analytics & Insights practice and enable them to provide the best-in-class service to clients and achieve professional growth 

  • Distill the complexities of digital analytics (tagging, data, reporting) into layman terms, providing impactful visualizations, actionable insights and test/optimization opportunities 

  • Work closely with account and strategy to understand business needs and insert Analytics wherever it may provide value 

  • Translate business specifics needs/questions into measurable and testable KPIs 

  • Help clients determine website and campaign goals and translate these into measurable KPIs and other performance metrics; then articulate these into tagging and testing requirements for developers and analysts: what user actions should be tracked (goals/metrics), and how they should be broken down (variables/dimensions) 

  • Lead multiple projects and accounts while keeping your feet on the ground and digging into the work as needed 

  • Participate in new business pitches, persuasively demonstrating our capabilities and expertise 

  • Oversee the quality of project deliverables (accurate, insightful, professional, interesting)  

  • Manage resources and ensure account allocations are efficient and effective 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

 

  • 8+ years of experience in digital analytics 

  1. 8+ years using web analytics tools, developing tagging requirements, analyzing data, and presenting stories 

  1. 2+ years as a manager or supervisor 

  • forward thinking leader with a vision and growth plan for the Analytics & Optimization team and offerings 

  • Experience with both digital campaign performance and site performance and optimization (including Paid Media/SEM and SEO methods), as well as foundation knowledge of media platforms and reporting tools (Campaign Manager, Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, social platforms, etc.) 

  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Analytics and Google Analytics data reporting tools including creating custom reports, dimensions, metrics, while also understanding scoping and data interpretation 

  • A keen sense of curiosity, especially when things “don’t add up” 

  • Demonstrable success in conducting “forensic” analysis to identify and eliminate data-quality issues 

  • Foundational knowledge of tagging systems (GTM or DTM) 

  • A/B testing tools (Optimizely, and especially Adobe Target) 

  • Proficiency with data visualization tools (Tableau, Google Data Studio, PowerBI, Datorama, etc.) 

  • Excellent communication skills, both written, presentations and oral 

  • Strong client management skills with demonstrated success working with executives at the most senior level on setting analytic direction and recommendations to direct business strategy and achieve high impact results 

  • (BONUS) Proficiency with social listening platforms (NetbaseBrandwatchet.c) 

  • (BONUS) Experience in machine-learning and NLP methods 

  • (BONUS) Experience in Marketing Automation, particularly CRM
