Freelance Sr. Engineer, Technology (FED)

The senior engineer, technology (FED) will be responsible for assisting other senior engineers with a large React project. Duties will include significant SCSS refactoring and quality improvement, conversion of javascript to typescript, and custom React component development. You should also have experience writing unit and end-to-end test scripts for React. The ideal candidate would have experience with REST API development, in particular when interfacing with AWS. 

  • Daily scrums with the rest of the development team.  
  • Submitting git pull-requests as development work progresses, helping conduct code reviews of other team members. 
  • Helping with SCSS/CSS tasks 
  • Helping to design and optimize custom React components 
  • Debugging existing React components and assisting with conversion of a large React project to typescript 
  • Implementing more advanced code patterns like conversion to asynchronous method calls (promises, etc.) 
  • 3 to 5 years front-end development 
  • 2 to 3 years mobile front-end development 
  • Experience with React, TypeScript, NodeJS, JavaScript, JSX, HTML/HTML5, SCSS, JSON and AJAX 
  • Significant experience with one or more JavaScript frameworks like jQuery, jQuery Mobile, Sencha Touch, AngularJS, Backbone.js and NodeJS 
  • Experience working with Bootstrap CSS Framework 
  • Knowledge of responsive design on mobile sites 
  • Ability to write lightweight reusable code 
  • Experience with GIT, ability to work efficiently with multiple branches and repos 
  • Cross-browser and cross-device development experience  
  • Knowledge implementing 3rd party libraries for analytics 
  • Understanding of object-oriented design and development 
  • Understanding of the MVC design pattern 
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, 
  • Past experience in a highly collaborative development environment. 
  • Typically, have a BSC/BS/BA in Computer Science or a related field a plus 
  • Experience working in a collaborative, small teams
