Engineer, Technology (Front-End Developer)

JOB SUMMARY

Working with the rest of the team, the front-end engineer executes the strategic and creative vision of responsive web applications, converting ideas into the real thing for the greater good.

We are looking for someone who is skilled in the triad of web technologies: HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript. However, for this particular role, we're especially excited about meeting someone who has strong interest and skill in CSS to balance our team composition. This means you have an eye for design and specialize in layout and composition on the web.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborating with fellow developers on large projects
  • Building stand-alone websites or web applications
  • Contributing toward streamlining internal processes
  • Addressing tracked bugs
  • Helping implement new technologies
  • Respectfully working together with other disciplines in an Agile-oriented environment 

QUALIFICATIONS (must have some of the following)

  • Proficient with design and coding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Strong understanding of DOM structure and layout architecture
  • Task runner experience (Gulp or Webpack preferred)
  • CSS pre-processor experience (Sass/SCSS is preferred)
  • Node.js experience (or an active desire to learn it)
  • Exposure to front-end templating (Handlebars.js or similar libraries)
  • A portfolio of work that demonstrates application of responsive design
  • Proficient with JSON, AJAX, lazy-loading concepts and performance optimization methods
  • Experience developing websites for a range of breakpoints and devices
  • Strong experience in client side libraries such as, React, Vue, Angular, etc.
  • Experience implementing and testing analytic tracking across a web property, e.g. Google or Omniture analytics
  • Experience implementing or using a design system (or strong interest to do so)
  • Proficient with Git, Git Flow, and online Git Platforms (Github, Gitlab, Bitbucket, etc.)
